But on Boxing Day, hostilities resumes across England as teams struggle to maintain or improve on performance in the league which will enter its 16th week.
Brentford and Tottenham started the half of the season in early hours of today at around 1:30 p.m. on Monday with a 2:2 draw, while Crystal Palace on the other hand kicked off at about 4:00p.m and lost to Fulham, 3 goals to nil in favour of Fulham
Everton also lost 1:2 to Wolves; Leicester as well lost 0:3 against Newcastle while Southampton welcome Brighton but could not get full control of the match thereby losing to Brighton 1:3
Much later, Aston Villa hosts Liverpool at Villa Park at about 6:30 p.m but suffered defeat by 1:3 with Salah scoring the opening goal for Liverpool as the Reds struggle to get their rhythm this season.
League leader, Arsenal, will face West Ham in the last game of the day as they look forward to keeping their four-point advantage over Manchester City atop the EPL log and if possible increase the goal difference margins to seal their place ending the league at the top of the game.
